About the Gallery
The Jamar Gallery was founded in the memory of Ronald Edward Jamar, a native of Huntsville, Alabama also known as the Rocket City of the world! Ronald was born in 1961 the last child of four children. At a very early age, Ronald picked up a pencil and was compelled to draw everything he saw before him. His siblings used to always wonder, “is my brother ever going to get up out of that position on the floor with a pencil and pad in his hand and do anything other than draw?“
Little did they know, their baby brother had a gift… he was born to create!!! As he grew up, he started drawing larger and larger pieces, often spending hours drawing portraits of his high school friends. He even drew a portrait of the Kennedy brothers and sent the portrait to Washington, D. C. When he received acknowledgment from the White House it was one of the proudest days of his life. Ronald went on to draw the cover of the Huntsville City Schools high school graduation baccalaureate ceremony, as well as pictures of anything that inspired him. His talent became so well known throughout the city, that he was selected to paint a mural on the wall of the Hilton Hotel of all of the famous stars who came to play concerts at the Von Braun Civic Center. Because his artistic hunger and desire was so great, naturally after graduation, he went on to college and majored in art. It was there that he learned and explored all mediums to include painting, the utilization of charcoal, pastels and even sculpturing. But his main love, was drawing.
Ronald’s goal in life was to become a famous artist and to make a living doing what he loved. Unfortunately, his dream did not come to fruition. He passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2013 the day after his birthday. This deeply shocked and saddened all who knew him. He was sorely missed for years and he still is.
However, with the vision of his brother Rodney Jamar and his sisters Janice Jamar and Jacquelyne Jamar Flournoy, the legacy of their baby brother will live on. The Jamar Gallery will keep Ronald‘s love of art alive by presenting beautiful works of art from all over the world! Some featured artists hail from India, Africa, Dubai, Beverly Hills, California and St. Louis, Missouri. As the Jamar Gallery grows, more artists’ work will be featured.
The Jamar Gallery’s goal is to offer original masterpieces in all mediums as well as affordable prints, greeting cards, and signed and numbered glicee’s!
In time, we will open a Beautiful Gallery for buyers to see firsthand some of these amazing pieces of art. The location of this gallery will be in Huntsville Alabama, voted as the best place to live in the USA, in 2022 and the fastest growing city in Alabama in 2022–2023.
The goal of the Jamar Gallery is to introduce art lovers to an amazing and beautiful art collection from beginners as well as seasoned artists.
